about

He's Dead Jim were proud to call themselves 'Aberdeen's fifth best garage band'. But around Easter 1982, the neighbours living in the vicinity sought and obtained a court injunction putting an end to the band's rehearsals in their beloved garage, forcing the Jims to relocate indoors to Neil's bedroom. This led to the (fairly quiet) recording of Inferior Bedroom in July, 1982. This was notable for featuring Martin on the crappiest synthesiser ever devised - the Casio VL-Tone. As well as the distinctively cheap sound of the tiny Casio keyboard, Neil had a bad cold at the time of this recording, so the singing is even more hoarse and untuneful than usual.
